The Key to Erebor was designed by Concept Art Director John Howe and created for the film by the artists at the 3 Foot 7 Art Department in Wellington, New Zealand.
This prop replica has been cast from moulds of the original prop taken directly from the 3 Foot 7 Art Department. It is cast in metal (Zinc Alloy) and comes on a stand made of polyurethane.
Large and heavy, it is the kind of key you just know would open something important. Like the back door to a lost Dwarven Kingdom.
The Key to Erebor is part of a range of high end authentic prop replicas from ´The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey´. All created by the artists in the filmmaking community of Wellington, New Zealand.
